Event Details

This (CEPS - Certification Examination Preparation Seminar) is a course that helps aspiring project management professionals to prepare for PMI's PMP or CAPM certification exam. CEPS is the premier professional development activity offered by the Vancouver Island Chapter of PMI, and is delivered by experienced PMP facilitators. In general, 75% of those who attempt the certification examinations succeed on their first attempt. However, more than 95% of our CEPS graduates who attempt the certification examinations succeed on their first try.

Course Format

The course consists of 6 classroom sessions. Each session is 7 hours long (with 1 hour for lunch), covering a minimum of 2 knowledge areas each day, plus one full day review session including an online Mock practice exam questions similar to the actual exam format. Total exposure time equals 42 hours across all six sessions. Students needing the 35 hours of contact time are eligible to write the PMP exam after the May 12 session.

  • Session Time:  Saturday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
The dates of the sessions are (no class May 19 - Victoria Day Long Weekend):
  • April 14 - Starts with a 10 question Mock exam for 15 minutes - Orientation/Professional Responsibility changes/PMBOK Chapter 1, 2, 3 intro/Domains/ General Knowledge – specific activities per process group/cross cutting skills over all processes
  • April 21  - Scope and Time
  • April 28 - Cost and Quality
  • May 5 - Communication and HR
  • May 12 - Risk and Procurement
  • May 26 – Integration, Review exam domains, specific and cross cutting skills and professional responsibility and Mock 100 updated Question Exam at end.

Course Content

The course consists of twelve modules updated to cover changes in the PMP/CAPM Exam introduced by PMI as of August 31, 2011. Our course is specifically tailored to the domain and the knowledge area sections of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide©), 4th edition and the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that are needed to pass the exam. In addition to direct instruction, the course exposes you to sample exam questions and provides the opportunity for discussion with senior PMP facilitators and your fellow future CAPMs/PMPs in the class.

Course Materials

Course materials will be provided in electronic format. The PMBOK 4th Edition is also required, but not provided. Students can either use the electronic copy provided as part of their PMI membership or purchase a paper/electronic copy  from PMI. An online portal will provide access to the Mock practice exam questions.

Note for HR Directors signing up employees

Please sign up using the employee's email as it is required for course material and web portal access, which needs to be sent directly to them. If necessary you can use the name of the company card holder to pay, and then email us the name change and we can manually change the name on the enrolment.
